In this book, Wittgenstein put forward a completed plan of action based on pure logic, where the user can use logical tables to help them work on any type of philosophical problem. Much of the work was based on ideas that were formulated before Wittgenstein's experiences of war. Ludwig was a prisoner of war for over a year. He returned to Vienna and his family home. He was very restless, like many soldiers who had returned to a very changed home environment often with deep physiologically changs. After an extended period of trying different career paths, architect, gardener, monk and teacher, Wittgenstein returned to Cambridge in the late twenties, to take a chair of philosophy.
His attitudes to mathematics and philosophy had changed dramatically. However, he did not publish any new material for an extended period of time. Most of the written material that was produced in this period of his professorship at Cambridge was produced by ex students who wrote about their experiences of being taught by this amazing man. His most popular and powerful work, written by himself, was published after his death in 1951. Its title is "Philosophical Investigations". It's one of the most powerful books of the modern age.
